TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out 30 years ago, as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then, its scope has become even broader, including a diverse mix of topics.
TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with unique conferences and multiple initiatives including the TEDx program. An independently organized program that gives communities self help blog, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

Cretaquarium is part of one of the most important research complexes focusing on the marine world, in the Mediterranean sea; The same sea that has given birth to ancient civilizations and represents unique biodiversity, as well as a crucial crossroad of natural and human ecology.
Born in England, spent many years of his life around the world and eventually settled in Crete to create and spread his music. Ross Daly, one of the most emblematic figures of contemporary Crete, is going to be on the stage of TEDxHeraklion.

Giorgos Tserpes is Research Director at the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters of the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR).

Daulute brings a unique and dynamic sound to the interpretation of Greek traditional music. It presents an extensive Cretan repertoire as a basis, while it also explores other Greek music idioms and improvisations. Gareth Owens studied Classics & Ancient History (UCL) and received a PhD (University of Athens) on the Structure of the Minoan Language. He works as Erasmus Co-ordinator at the TEI of Crete and he is an EU ERASMUS+ Ambassador 2014-2020.

Dr. Mallios was among the lawyers that achieved the recognition of same-sex couples’ right to be included in the civil union in Greek legal system, after a procedure in the European Court of Human Rights.
